Important Information About Your Rentals

On arrival you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the operators of Wendekreisen Motorhomes. Here is a summary of their terms and conditions.

Definitions

The following definitions apply for the Terms and Conditions of Wendekreisen Motorhomes:

 * The Supplier means the operator of Wendekreisen Motorhomes.
 * The Client is also referred to as the hirer (s) or renter (s).

Payments
A non refundable booking deposit is required to secure your motorhome booking. The exact amount is detailed in the breakdown of pricing.
The remaining balance is due in full, 40 days before the commencement of hire.

Cancellation Fees
In the event that you wish to cancel your booking the following fees apply:
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
If cancelled 34 days prior to pick up :  No further fee.
If cancelled within 33 days to 11 days of pickup :  30% of total reservation cost
If cancelled within 10 days of pick-up or no show :  100% of total reservation cost
Early return of vehicle :  No refunds

Vehicle Pick up & Return
Wendekreisen operates rental depots in Auckland and  Christchurch. On request Wendekreisen can arrange vehicle collections and returns in Picton. A relocation fee of $400 applies for vehicle collections or returns in Picton (please note  that Wendekreisen no longer services the Wellington area).

Depot Business Hours
Monday to Saturday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (08:30 - 17:00) local time.
Sunday / Public Holidays: 8:30 am - 1:00 pm (08:30 - 13:00)

Please note that  Wendekreisen cannot accept any vehicle collections after 4:30pm weekdays and 12.30pm on weekends / public holidays unless an after-hours vehicle collection has been pre-arranged. There is a charge of  NZ$60 for after-hours vehicle collections. After hours vehicle collections are not available after 20.00pm and before 6.30am. Customers are advised to arrange for accommodation before and after travelling in New Zealand.

Airport Transfers & Vehicle delivery
Wendekreisen offers a complimentary transfer between airports and our depots.

Auckland
Please advise your arrival details (date, time, flight number, accommodation, expected time of vehicle collection).
After your arrival at Auckland Airport, please call Wendekreisen on their free phone number and select option 1. Please await the representative in front of the DeparturesTerminal at door three. Should no one be available, please take a taxi to the depot. The cost of approx. NZ$35 will be refunded to you if a receipt is provided.
If you spend the first night at a hotel near Auckland Airport, please ring Wendekreisen on their free phone number and select option 1 to organise a transfer. Please await the driver in front of your hotel. 
Taxi or shuttle costs from the city will be refunded up to a maximum of NZ$35 if a receipt is provided. Wendekreisen recommends you pre-book your transfer to the depot the night before. Please contact "Discount Taxis" to arrange the transfer and advise them of your estimated arrival time at the depot.

Christchurch
After your arrival at the airport or your airport hotel, please ring Wendekreisen on their freephone number, select 2 for Christchurch Transfers to organize your pick up and await our agent in front of the terminal or your hotel. Should no one be available, please take a taxi to the depot or book the Super-Shuttle (freephone). The cost of approx. NZ$30 will be refunded to you if a receipt is provided. If you are staying in the city, please take a taxi, the cost of approx. NZ$20 will be refunded to you if a receipt is provided. 

Important Notice: Wendekreisen does NOT recommend vehicle collections immediately after long-haul flights. Wendekreisen advises that a minimum of  8hours rest is recommended to ensure safe travels. Please also note that afternoon collections may also face significant traffic congestion.

One Way Rentals
One way rentals are available at no extra charge but must be organised at time of booking. 

Change of Pick Up or Return Location
A change of pick up or return date/location is subject to availability. If the hirer wishes to change the pick up or return date/location after a booking has been confirmed, approval by Wendekreisen must be obtained. A breach of contract relating to the pick up or return date/location will incur a NZ$1000 penalty fee. 

Vehicle Returns
Vehicles have to be returned on the date, place and time as shown on  the contract. Late returns will result in extra charges. 
The hirer is obliged to return the vehicle:
- With a fuel level that is marked on the damage sheet
- In a reasonably clean condition
- With empty holding tank and toilet
Extra charges apply should these obligations be ignored 

Rental Charges
Rental charges for campervans, motorhomes & recreational vehicles are calculated on a daily basis, irrespective of pick-up time. Charges include unlimited kilometers, all equipment (excludes ‘optional extras’) and GST (15%). All prices are in New Zealand dollars except where indicated otherwise. 

Optional Extras
The following charges will apply for optional extras on your hire:
1. After Hours Charge NZ$ 60 per collection/return
2. Child Seat / Booster Seat - NZ$ 25 per hire
3. DVD Unit (to suit Koru 6) - NZ$ 50 per hire
4. Multimedia Centre (12 Inch TV/DVD/USB/SD) – NZ$75 per hire
5. Satellite TV antenna & decoder (as of 1st Feb 2012) – NZ$75 per hire
    Available in the following models:
  a.  Koru Star 2+1
  b.  Koru Star 2ST
  c.  Koru 4
  d.  Koru 6
  e.  Budget 4

6. Snow Chains - NZ$ 75 per hire  
7. Tom Tom GPS Unit NZ$ 5 per day (min. $60; Max. $100)

Drivers Licence and Minimum Age
A valid national driver license is required. National driver licenses which are not in English need to be presented in conjunction with an  official translation or valid international driver license. The minimum driver age is 21 years. All drivers must have had a full and valid driver’s license for no less than 12 months. All Wendekreisen vehicles can be operated with a car license valid  to a tare vehicle weight of 3.5tonnes. The driver must ensure his/her license is valid for the vehicle hired in this agreement.

Insurance 
Standard Insurance (Compulsory)
NZ$16.00 per day with an excess of NZ$1500 for drivers over 25 years (NZ$2000 for drivers of 21to 24 years, GST included) for any one damage. A credit card imprint is sufficient. Maximum charge of NZ$800 per hire.

Standard Insurance with Windscreen and Tyre cover
NZ$22.00 per day with an excess of NZ$1500 for drivers over 25 years (NZ$2000 for drivers of 21 to 24 years, GST included) for any one damage and NIL excess for windscreen and  tyre damage. A credit card imprint is sufficient. Maximum charge of NZ$1100 per hire.

All Inclusive Package (Full Cover Insurance and Extras)
NZ$36.00 per day will reduce the excess for any vehicle to NZ$250.00 (NZ$500 for drivers 21 to 24 years). Includes cover for all damages (including overhead & underbody damages), compulsory standard insurance and windscreen/tyre cover. This package also includes all 'Optional Extras'. Maximum charge NZ$1800 per hire.

Insurance Exclusions
The hirer is at all times fully liable (without a monetary limit) for:
a. Any damage to the WTL vehicle or third party property if the terms of the rental agreement are breached
b. Damages caused by racing, speed tests or other contests
c. Damage caused by careless, willful or reckless driving
d. Damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
e. Damage caused by driving on restricted roads
f.  Damage to or loss of any personal belongings
g. Damage caused by the use of incorrect or contaminated fuel
h. Damage caused by water submersion or salt water damage 
i.  Damage caused in an unsafe or unroadworthy condition that arose during the course of the hire and that caused or contributed to the damage and loss, and the hirer or driver was aware or ought to have been aware of the unsafe or unroadworthy condition of the vehicle.
j.  Cost to retrieve or recover vehicles which have become bogged submerged or abandoned
k. Cost to replace vehicle keys that have been lost or damaged or retrieval of keys that are locked in the vehicle
l.  Damages by the use of snow chains
m.  Damages due to overloading of the vehicle 

Security Bond 
The security bond is equal to the excess amount of your insurance option (see insurance options). A credit card imprint is sufficient.  If paid in cash or by traveler cheque, the security bond will be refunded at the end of your hire according to the conditions below.

Security Bond Refunds
The bond will not be charged on return of the vehicle provided that:
- The vehicle is returned to the agreed location at the agreed time 
- No damage is incurred to the vehicle or any 3rd party property 
- The vehicle is returned with a fuel level as marked on the damage sheet at vehicle collection 
- Waste water tank and toilet have been emptied 
- No items belonging to Wendekreisen Travel have been lost or damaged 
- All traffic fines and toll road fees have been paid 
- The vehicle is returned in a reasonably clean condition 
The security bond can be paid by cash, traveller's cheque or credit card. If paid by credit card, an imprint will be taken but not charged unless the above conditions have not been met.
 
Travel Insurance
In New Zealand, personal injury due to an accident is covered by the Accident Compensation Commission (ACC). However, Wendekreisen strongly recommends that customers take out Personal Travel Insurance.
 
Restricted Roads
A Wendekreisen vehicle must not be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula). All other public roads are permitted throughout New Zealand. 

Rental Period Extension
A hire extension is subject to availability and authorisation by Wendekreisen Travel. Any costs associated with the extension will be disclosed prior to confirmation and charged on drop off. 

Minimum Hire Period
The minimum hire period throughout the summer season (1st October – 30th April) is 4 days.

The minimum hire period  throughout  the winter season  (1st May – 30th September)  is 7 days.
 
On Road Assistance
In the event of mechanical problems, the hirer should contact Wendekreisen Travel by calling Wendekreisen phone numbers (select option 3). The Wendekreisen help desk will direct you to the closest service center. 

Repair Approval
Repairs of up to NZ$50.00 can be completed without authorization by Wendekreisen. All repair costs up to NZ$50.00 will be refunded upon submission of receipts. All  repairs exceeding NZ$50.00 require approval by Wendekreisen Travel.

Wendekreisen wishes to advise that no responsibility will be accepted for accommodation charges, meals or out-of-Pocket expenses resulting from a breakdown. Wendekreisen will accept liability (and may process appropriate refunds) where the vehicle was unusable due to mechanical failure and the hirer made reasonable effort to contact Wendekreisen Travel within 12 hours. 

Substitute Vehicles
Wendekreisen Travel reserves the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to any refund. Should Wendekreisen not be able to supply a comparable vehicle, Wendekreisen will compensate the hirer for each day lost.

Privacy Policy
Any information supplied to Wendekreisen Travel Ltd will not be passed on to any other 3rd party. You have the right under New Zealand Privacy law to view and correct any information we hold about you. 

Terms of booking on this website

Information disclaimer
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.95% credit card or debit card surcharge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency): 25.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

At the end of your rental the vehicle must be returned on the date, place and time as shown on the contract, before 4:30pm. Late returns will result in extra charges. Drop offs are made at the depot in Mangere, and you will be shuttled to the airport free of charge. Late or early drop off can be arranged with Wendekreisen for a fee.

Auckland Airport depot

Auckland Airport is a serviced non depot location.

At the end of your rental the vehicle must be returned on the date, place and time as shown on the contract, before 4:30pm. Late returns will result in extra charges. Drop offs are made at the depot in Mangere, and you will be shuttled to the airport free of charge. Late or early drop off can be arranged with Wendekreisen for a fee.

Pick up details

Pick up occurs at the Christchurch depot within office hours, or a late/early pick up can be arranged with Wendekreisen for a fee. There is a free transfer service from the airport or airport hotels. 

Transfer information
Please advise your arrival details so that Wendekreisen may prepare for your rental.

  1. Advise them of your arrival time prior to departure
  2. After your arrival at Christchurch Airport, please ring on free phone 0508 109 328 and select option 2 to arrange the transfer
  3. Please await the Wendekreisen representative in front of the terminal or your hotel. Should no one be available, please take a taxi to the depot.
  4. The cost of approx. NZ$30.00 spent on a taxi will be refunded to you if a receipt is provided.

Pick up details 
You may be collected from the Ferry Terminal or any Hotel or physical address within Picton. When booking please advise your preferred pick up time. You will be met by a representative with the vehicle at your chosen pick up point.

Please note: if your ferry arrives from 4.00pm onwards on your rental pick up date, an after hours pick up fee will apply.  This takes into account the time you will need to first clear customs and the time required for you to reach the pick up point and for us to brief you on your vehicle.

Drop off details
You may drop off your vehicle at the Ferry Terminal or any Hotel or physical address within Picton. Please arrange this with us. A representative will meet you at an agreed place for drop offs to Picton. You will need to drop off to the physical depots if dropping off to Christchurch or Auckland.

After hours pick up and drop off times are as follows
Early pick up or drop off times: Monday – Sunday 6.30am – 8.30am
Late pick up or drop off times: Monday – Saturday 4.30pm – 8.00pm
Sunday: 12.30pm – 8.00pm

Please note: There is a charge of NZ$60.00 for after hour’s vehicle collections and customers are advised to arrange for accommodation before and after travelling in New Zealand. We charge on a daily basis for late vehicle returns.
