Alpha Campervans Rental Terms for travel between 01-Apr-2012 and 30-Sep-2013

Important Information About Your Rentals

On arrival you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the operators of Alpha Campervans. Here is a summary of their terms and conditions.

Definitions

The following definitions apply for the Terms and Conditions of Alpha Campervans:

 * The Supplier means the operator of Alpha Campervans.
 * The Client is also referred to as the hirer (s) or renter (s).

Subject to Terms and Conditions outlined below.

Deposit and Payments
When you receive your confirmation a non-refundable deposit is required to secure the booking. This is shown at the time of booking. The balance of monies owing to Alpha Campervans is required 28 days before the hire commences. Cancellation fees apply see below.

Cancellations and Amendments 
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable.  In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
Up to 28 days prior to commencement of hire - no further cancellation fee
10 to 27days prior to pick up - 25% of total reservation cost
4 to 9 days prior to pick up - 50% of total reservation cost
3 days prior to vehicle pick up or day of vehicle pick up or no show - 100% of total reservation cost

Please note:
* The early return of a vehicle does not entitle the hirer to a refund.
* A change of the drop off location once travel has commenced is always subject to confrmation by supplier and may incur the full cost of repositioning the vehicle to the original drop off location reserved.
* The supplier strongly recommends the purchase of Travel Insurance, providing sufficient cover in the event of cancellation insurance to cover the above charges.
* The early return of a vehicle does not entitle the hirer to a refund.

Calculating the rates
Rates are calculated on a daily basis. The day of pick up is counted as Day 1 and the day of drop off is the last day regardless of the time of pick up and drop off. e.g. Pick up at 1400 on 01 May and drop off at 1000 on 08 May is calculated as an 8 day hire.

Minimum hire period
For all rentals there is a minimum hire period of seven [7] days, except for the following when the minimum hire period will be fourteen [14] days:
* All vehicle pick ups between 20 December and 02 January annually.
* All one way hires between Christchurch and Auckland or vice versa.

Multiple Rentals
Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify for the Long Term Hire Discounts indicated in the rates.

One way hires
One way hires at no additional cost are possible between Auckland and Christchurch and vice versa providing the rental period is a minimum of 14 days. On some occasions, special circumstances may apply and for purposes of repositioning vehicles this time limit may be reduced, subject to permission from Alpha Vehicle Rentals Ltd.

Road user charge / Diesel tax
Alpha does NOT charge clients extra for the New Zealand Road User Charge / Diesel Tax.

On road assistance
It is a client obligation to contact AlphaVehicle Rentals should any problems be experienced with the vehicle. Alpha Vehicle Rentals offers a 24 hour telephone number for On-Road Assistance in case of accidents or breakdowns.

Driver requirements
All drivers must be 21 years of age or older and hold a current valid driver’s licence to be produced at the start of the hire. A country of origin licence is acceptable, however non English language licence holders must either carry an authorised English translation of their foreign driver’s licence or an International Driving Permit while driving. A normal car licence is all that is required to drive any Alpha vehicle. No heavy vehicle, or other special category licence, is required. No maximum age limit applies providing an appropriate valid licence is held by the hirer.

The English translation referred to must be issued by one of the following authorities:
* The New Zealand Translation Service
* A diplomatic representative at a High Commission, Embassy or Consulate
* The authority that issued the overseas driver’s licence

Traffic infringements
All traffic infringements are the responsibility of the hirer. The hirer’s credit card details held by Alpha will be retained until all traffic infringement notices have been settled with the New Zealand traffc authorities (New Zealand Police and Local Councils). Alpha reserves the right to pass on details of the hirer’s home address to the New Zealand traffc authorities as is required by New Zealand law. If Alpha pays the fne on the hirer’s behalf a NZ$30 administration fee will be charged in addition to the fne imposed.

Smoking policy
Smoking is not permitted in any Alpha Campervans vehicle at any time.

Animals
Animals are not permitted to travel in any of Alpha’s vehicles.

Road Restrictions
Hirers are permitted to drive their vehicle on any road in New Zealand except the following which are prohibited in all circumstances:
North Island
Ninety Mile Beach - Northland
North of Colville Township - Coromandel Peninsula
South Island
Skippers Canyon Road - Queenstown
Ball Hutt Road - Mt Cook
North & South Island:
Any road closed by Traffic Police or other authority.

Vehicle substitution and design
The supplier shall make every effort to provide the vehicle requested, but where a vehicle is unavailable for any reason the supplier reserves the right to provide a comparably high standard vehicle at no extra cost. While including the same facilities, vehicle layouts may vary slightly to those shown due to manufacturer’s design changes.

Extra items for hire
The following additional items are available for hire and should be reserved when booking the vehicle:
Baby seats, baby capsules/child seats  -  NZ$25.00 per hire
Snow chains  -  FREE
Table and 2 picnic chairs  -  NZ$25.00 per hire
Additional picnic chair  -  NZ$5.00 per hire
Bicycle racks [on all models]  -  NZ$50.00 per hire
Bicycles  -  NZ$6.00 per day (maximum NZ$125 per bicycle per hire – NZ$100 excess applies to each bicycle and accessories) (From 01 May 2013 the rate for bicycle hire will increase to NZ$12.00 per day with a maximum charge of NZ$250 per hire.)
Bicycle child seat  -  NZ$25.00 per seat per hire
GPS Navigation System  -  NZ$5.00 per day
(maximum NZ$200 per hire – NZ$100 excess applies to the GPS including accessories)
Tourism Radio Tour Guide  -  Free
(Must be pre-booked with vehicle rental when used in conjunction with Standard Rates. Automatically included when All Inclusive Rates are used.)

Bicycle procedure: On pick up clients will find a bicycle rack fitted to their motorhome. However, to collect their bicycles they will be required to drive to specialist bicycle hire company, Natural High Limited. In both Auckland and Christchurch, Natural High are located near to the motorhome depot and full directions will be provided. This provides clients with a superior product that is tailored to each individual, and to ensure they receive a full briefing on the appropriate use and maintenance of the bicycles.

Repairs
Hirers may undertake on-road repairs. or replace broken equipment, up to NZ$100 without authorisation from the supplier. The amount will be reimbursed on presentation of a receipt. Authorisation from the supplier is required for amounts over NZ$100. Hirers should call the supplier for authorisation.

Transfers - Auckland
Arrival: Complimentary transfers between the airport and depot are available to Alpha campervans clients, on demand, by mini coach shuttle operated by Alpha Vehicle Rentals.

For International Arrivals: Clients should use the phone located immediately inside the Door 8 exit of the Terminal and phone Alpha Campervans (free call number to be provided upon booking confirmation), supplying their name, number of persons and the Terminal of pick up.

For Domestic Arrivals: Clients should phone the supplier (free call number to be provided upon booking confirmation) using the phones available. They should supply their name, number of persons and the Terminal of pick up.  In all cases the Alpha Campervans identified shuttle will be despatched to take the clients directly to the depot. The pick up point at each terminal will be advised by the supplier's staff at the time of the call.

For arrivals from airport hotels: complimentary transfers by the Alpha shuttle are available from airport hotels. Clients should phone Alpha Campervans.

For arrivals from Auckland City Hotels: for transfers from Downtown Auckland hotels, clients may use a taxi and will be reimbursed the cot. Alpha requests that clients use Discount Taxi, Telephone 529 1000. Clients must pay the taxi driver and obtain a receipt. The cost of the taxi will then be reimbursed by Alpha campervans, on presentation of the receipt, up to a maximum of NZ$50.00.

All Departures: complimentary transfers are available from the Depot to Auckland Airport or Auckland Airport Hotels by the Alpha Shuttle and can be arranged by clients on termination of the hire. Taxi transfers to other destinations can be arranged, however, these will be at the client's expense.


Transfers - Christchurch
Arrival: Complimentary transfers between the airport and depot are available to Alpha Campervans' clients, on demand, by mini coach shuttle operated by Alpha Vehicle Rentals.

For International and Domestic Arrivals: Clients should phone Alpha Campervans (on free call number provided upon booking confirmation) using the phones provided. They should give their name, number of persons and the Terminal of pick up.

In all cases the Alpha Campervans / Alpha Campervans identified transfer shuttle will be despatched to take them directly to the depot. The pick up point at each terminal will be advised by the supplier's staff at the time of the call.

For arrivals from airport hotels: Complimentary transfers between the airport and depot are available to Alpha Campervans' clients, on demand, by mini coach shuttle operated by Alpha Vehicle Rentals.

For arrivals from Christchurch City hotels: For transfers from Downtown Christchurch hotels, clients may use a taxi and will be reimbursed for the cost. Terms of booking on this website

Information disclaimer
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.

Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.95% credit card or debit card surcharge will be added when your payment is processed.

A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency): 25.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.

Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

Alpha Campervans Insurance

Insurance - Standard Rates
All Alpha Campervans Standard Rates include Standard Alpha Vehicle Rentals Insurance. This provides cover for:

- Damage to the Alpha Campervans vehicle including overhead and/or under-body damage, single vehicle accident or vehicle roll over, or damage to third party property.
- Demurrage costs – the rental rate for the days the vehicle is not available for hire due to accident repairs.
- Public Liability up to NZ$10,000,000.

The hirer will be fully liable for the repair or replacement of damaged windscreens.

This Bond/Excess may be paid by cash or credit card. Alpha accepts Visa and Mastercard. If a credit card is used as the method of payment the amount will not be debited from the credit card but a pre-authorisation will be obtained from the credit card company and held on file by the supplier until the vehicle is returned without damage to the supplier's vehicle or third party property and within the terms of the rental agreement. The client will be required to have sufficient credit with the credit card company to enable the supplier to secure the authorisation on pick up.

Pre-authorisation of the NZ$5,000 Bond is per incident and should damage be incurred to the hired vehicle or third party property the authorisation will be invoked and a further authorisation will be required.

The authorisation will be cancelled on return of the vehicle to the agreed drop off depot, on the due drop off date, in a clean undamaged condition, with no damage incurred to the hired vehicle or third party property, and with a full tank of fuel and empty toilet cassette and waste water tank.

CDW Option -
Payment of NZ$32 per day (maximum NZ$1,920 for any one hire) or NZ$44 per day for hirers under the age of 25 years (maximum NZ$2640 for any one hire) will completely waive the Bond/Excess.

- The hirer will not be responsible for any costs incurred due to damage to the hired vehicle or third party property, or for the repair or replacement of damaged windscreens, subject to the Insurance Exclusions and provided the hirer has complied with all policy conditions.


Insurance – All Inclusive Package
- Comprehensive insurance as detailed in CDW OPTION  is included in the All Inclusive Rates and NO excess applies.
- This applies to all eligibe hirers over 21 years with hires of 7 days or over.

Insurance Exclusions
(applicable to both Standard and All Inclusive Rates)
The following are the standard exclusions:
The hirer will be fully liable for any damage to the Alpha campervans vehicle or third party property if:
* The terms of the Rental Agreement entered into with the supplier are breached.
* Damage is caused while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
* The vehicle is driven on restricted roads.
* Damage is due to careless, wilful or reckless driving.
* Negligence, or other act of the hirer results in water submersion or salt water damage.
* The hirer has repairs made to the vehicle without the insurer’s permission.
* The hirer admits liability and accepts responsibility for third party damage.

Security deposit
Under the CDW Option and All Inclusive Rates options details of a credit card will still be taken for a fuel and cleaning deposit to a maximum of NZ$150. This deposit is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed drop off depot, on the due drop off date, in a reasonably clean condition, and with a full tank of fuel and an empty toilet cassette and waste water tank.

Personal insurance
Hirers are recommended to take personal travel insurance as Alpha Vehicle Insurance does not provide cover for loss or damage to personal property or for personal injury.

Auckland depot

There is no complimentary City Centre transfer / pick up service. If you are staying in arranged accommodation the city, please take a taxi to the depot for around $25-$35 NZD at your own expense.

Airport Pick Ups
Complimentary dedicated airport transfer between Auckland Airport and Auckland Branch. Shuttle comes past the airport approximately every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour.
International Arrivals – Exit through Door 11 and wait by Jean Batten memorial plinth 
Domestic Arrivals – Leave through Door 2 (Air NZ end of terminal), cross public pick up point area to P&R Vehicles area

If you are arriving after hours or your flight is delayed please advise the supplier as soon as possible. You will need to pick-up your motorhome the following day from 8am-4:00pm if you are arriving after hours (4:00pm-8am).

Vehicle collection and return:
Operating hours - daily 08:00 to 16:30
Please note that the latest vehicle collection and return time is 16:00

Auckland Airport depot

We offers a free transfer from the airport to the depot which is located a few minutes away.

Shuttle comes past the airport approximately every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour.
International Arrivals – Exit through Door 11 and wait by Jean Batten memorial plinth 
Domestic Arrivals – Leave through Door 2 (Air NZ end of terminal), cross public pick up point area to P&R Vehicles area

If you are arriving after hours or your flight is delayed please advise the supplier as soon as possible. You will need to pick-up your motorhome the following day from 8am-4:00pm if you are arriving after hours (4:00pm-8am). Alpha offers a free transfer from the airport to the depot which is located a few minutes away.

Please make your way from Domestic or International Arrivals to the airport desk (branded with maui, Britz, Backpacker and Explore More) located in the International Arrivals terminal to contact the Christchurch Branch to advise you require a pick up. After you have notified the branch, please make your way to the 3 storey car park building and wait under the down ramp, where there is a sign advising of shuttle pick up point. Please note, the shuttle departs from this location every 30 minutes at quarter past and quarter to the hour.

City PIck ups
If you are staying in arranged accommodation the city, please take a taxi to the depot for around $25-$35 NZD at your own expense.
